LOCKDIN ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data when you use the LOCKDIN mobile application.

1. Information We Collect

Account & Profile Data

• Username you choose when setting up your profile
• Avatar colour preference
• Anonymous Firebase user ID (generated automatically — no email or password required)

Session & Usage Data

• Focus session duration, category, and XP earned
• Session mood and optional notes you log after sessions
• Journal entries you write within the app
• Streak counts and total session statistics

Social Features

• Friend connections you initiate (usernames of people you add)
• Co-op session invites sent or received

Device & Technical Data

• General device information collected automatically by Firebase (OS version, device model) for crash reporting and performance monitoring
• Advertising ID, used by Google AdMob to serve ads (see Section 4)

2. How We Use Your Information

• To operate core app features: sessions, streaks, leaderboards, and achievements
• To display your profile and rank on the leaderboard
• To enable friend requests and co-op focus sessions
• To store your journal entries and session logs locally and sync your profile to our servers
• To improve app performance and fix bugs using anonymised analytics
• To serve advertisements through Google AdMob

3. Data Storage

Your session history, journal entries, and session logs are stored locally on your device using an encrypted SQLite database. Your public profile (username, avatar colour, XP, and leaderboard stats) is stored on Google Cloud Firestore servers located in the United States.

Friend relationships and co-op invites are stored in Firestore and are only accessible to the relevant parties.

4. Advertising (Google AdMob)

LOCKDIN displays banner advertisements served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and use data including your device's Advertising ID to show you relevant ads. You can opt out of personalised ads at any time through your device settings:

• Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalisation
• iOS: Settings → Privacy → Apple Advertising → turn off Personalised Ads

Google's privacy policy applies to data collected by AdMob: policies.google.com/privacy

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only in these limited circumstances:

• Google Firebase — for authentication, database, and crash analytics (data processor)
• Google AdMob — for serving advertisements
• Other users — your username, avatar, XP, and leaderboard stats are visible to other LOCKDIN users. Friend connections are visible only to connected friends.
• Legal requirements — if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of users

6. Children's Privacy

LOCKDIN is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Correct inaccurate profile information (directly within the app)
• Opt out of personalised advertising via device settings

To request account deletion or a copy of your data, contact us at the email below. We will respond within 30 days.

8. Data Retention

Local data (journal entries, session logs) remains on your device until you uninstall the app or clear app data. Cloud data (profile, leaderboard stats, friend connections) is retained while your account is active and deleted within 30 days of an account deletion request.

9. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including Firebase Security Rules to restrict data access. Only authenticated users can read or write their own data. Leaderboard data is readable by all authenticated users, consistent with its public nature.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the effective date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
